Spot on! I'm a believer, too - something I can just feel in my gut - that Stained Class is one of the best metal records, period.
On a side note, this weekend I watched part of that documentary on the Judas Priest - James Vance trial. Talk about a scary face. Yesterday, said face came into my thoughts, and I had to find out what happened to him. Apparently, shortly after the trial he fell into a coma and died. No hero's end for that dude.
Ha, in 78' my dad had a Ranchero and drank Coors. Fond memories, like the time his buddy Don spilled his beer on the 275 going to Cricklewood (he'd take me along to impress the waitresses) "Oh shit...Dave, grab the wheel!!!" White faces as I weaved through lanes. I bet that was the first time those people saw a 6 year old drive.

But yeah, I think "Sad Wings...", "Stained Class" and "Sin After Sin" is pretty much the pinnacle of metal.
bruni: DoH on criterion bluray soon.
chomperz: Lou who?
good essay in any event.
"I think you are a cop my son."
David: Nothing wrong with the Double OOs. Coors has the can tech down to crack science. Shit would've been swaddled like Moses in Omni Mag ca '80s.
Tal: Ha ha ha. Right on, Broseph.
Telemachus: You are welcome, and thanks for reading it.
