Nominon - Omen

A: We are no one! No one! Sweden’s Nominon may as well be. Rarely see these guys getting quick service. Could be a problem with consistent quality and little to no window-dressing in blogosphere and zine inties, deciblurbs, preposterously overblown rumination re: cover-art, Foucault, existential Swedish horror. I saw ‘em years ago in Atlanta and stood stoned, bought, sold. Weaponized proficiency has a way of mesmerizing even mastodonic assholes such as myself. What the fuck? Even bought a long-sleeve, printed, yes.
This EP is longtime coming. Think
Terra Necrosis – another record festooned with reaper scythe and skull, yes – was over two years ago. The debut,
Recremation – yet another record festooned with reaper scythe and skull, yes – almost five years past. So,
Omen, three new tracks and one poorly recorded but excellent live tune, is more of what I expect. It’s tighter than a preacher’s dick in a cow’s ass. Killer riffs, breakdowns, vox… Maybe if the band were marketed as AdBusting eco-farmers who share affinity with Native Americans and nigger hating Scandi has-beens, they’d bump some drone off the cover-story tip. Raise a glass of glog to hope, yes.

really funny how butt hurt people got about probably the only negative piece of press any of those bands has ever received.
I knew how it was going to be received. Writing for Stylus showed me how seriously and personally people take writing about their favorite bands and their favorite bands' shortcomings - and fans.
Really though: Didn't imagine a bunch of responses to be published on several different sites calling me out as some "misinformed douche."
The alleged "Village Voice Sucks!" chant during the NYC Pelican show is a high-point for me this young December.
