New Absu Tracks Online

 May 15 2008 at 11:48:32 AM

Two new Absu tracks entitled "To The Gallows" and "Thrashstorms," both from the upcoming Speed N' Spikes Vol. 2 split 7" with Philadelphia's Rumpelstiltskin Grinder, have recently been uploaded to the band's myspace page. The songs are the first new material to emerge from the Texas-based "Mythological Occult Metal" outfit since the release of their acclaimed 2001 album, Tara.

Absu entered Nomad Recording Studio in April to begin recording their fifth and self-titled album with a tentative autumn release date on Candlelight Records. The album will be engineered/produced by none other than Sterling Winfield (King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Solitude Aeternus, Usurper, Blood of the Sun, Etc.) and mastered by Absu drummer/vocalist Proscriptor at his studio Tarot Productions.

Speed N' Spikes is a series of five limited edition split 7" releases from ten of the best underground thrash metal bands today. Issue one of the series featured recent Relapse signees TOXIC HOLOCAUST and Rochester's BLUDWULF and has completely sold out since its release in January. Future editions will feature new and exclusive material from ABIGAIL, EARLY MAN, NEKROMANTHEON, RAMMER, AVENGER OF BLOODWITCHAVEN. Each edition will be on colored wax and strictly limited to 1,000, never to be repressed again. The Speed N' Spikes series also features collectible original artwork from Relapse's Timothy Leo and Mike Wohlberg of The Fat Kid Illustration with each volume making up a portion of a comic strip.
