Excoriate - On Pestilent Winds...

Mein Gott! Disbanded Bavarian death troopers finally see the release of their debut album, first recorded in the fall of 2006, although it may as well have been laid down twenty prior. No, Germans aren’t exactly known for high quality Death Metal, but they do leave magnificent ruins. Evoking the skinless, raw torment of their namesake, Excoriate summon seven tremors to shift the stones, releasing horror that thunders and seeps, taking shape and shuffling dirt under foot, propelled by unsatisfied hunger. Primeval. If Black Metal activates the feral nature in man, that erstwhile connection to claw and fang - of who or what we were - then Death Metal feeds on the terror of what will be. Not atavism, but infection. The fear of what surrounds us, the reaper watching down, and what will remain. The alienness and frailty. Lovecraft’s fungi, though never mentioned by name, still looms heavy over the strains of “Morbid Ruins” and the contagion implied in “Poisoned by Darkness.” Plague and pestilence plied through the cadaver-like thuds of drummer Sebastian Engelhardt, raining beats on the backs of the dead, treading a thick, black gravy of riffs churning ahead with Sepultura’s “Mayhem” stuck perfectly among these coagulating bits while Stefan Eberlein ‘s blistered, hoarse vox forms a crust made of old Pestilence CDs and formaldehyde–laced shwag. Fuck progress, forget treatment, and let it fester.

Might want to also check out Necros Christos, Drowned's Viscera Terrae, and Mandatory.
Do quite enjoy NC and Drowned. Don't know why they slipped my mind. I guess I was thinking 90s DM.
Speaking of that style, they're not from Germany, but have been digging the new Embrace of Thorns. Similar in style to NC and Drowned.
Looking forward to checking out these guys.
