Damaar - Triumph Through Spears of Sacrilege

Lebanon goes nuclear. With five tracks of desert hell resounding over the muezzin’s call to prayer, the first and only release to date from Beirut’s Damaar unleashes its fury on a level almost impossible to comprehend.
The trio of Heathen, Napalm and Nunrider act as a veritable war zone inside of a whirlwind. The pretense a non-issue as the band erupts with brute force, proceeding with a flurry of dive bombs and guitar chords exploding on contact, commando drums that kick through the urban detritus, and an array of voices mocking human abattoirs through wheeze-roaring orisons for mass suicide and annihilation.
Tag it as whatever the hell you want (“War Metal” that doesn’t sound like a five minute cabbage fart?) but all reference points are reduced to powder when compared to the sheer anger and intensity through which Damaar perform. Superiority that is easily demonstrated as they take on their influences directly, resulting in a ferocious cover of Blasphemy’s “Desecration” that is nothing short of embarrassing, while the crusty beats and
Scum drenched phalange of “Goatphoenix” are more than enough to shame all the ball cappers and self-righteous UK cocksuckers forever. Re-released on CD and MLP.
